i got a new phone.

and my new phone has a camera.

Conjunction lesson number 1: never start a sentence with "and"...

Here are some photographs that I have taken over the last week.

on the train coming back from Amstetten after buying the new phone.

Steve, my American friend, in the kitchen.

Wieselburg. Yes, this is what noon on a typical Mostviertler Austrian day looks like... gloomy, huh?

Wieselburg and the Erlauf, the river that runs through it.

The Erlauf and ice in Scheibbs

The peaceful exchange of power as seen on CNN.

OUR NEW GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sitting at the train station in Wieselburg. I have decided that about half of my time in Austria is spent waiting for trains...

Train station in Wieselburg.

Looking the other direction from the train station in Wieselburg... all of these were taken in the morning. Notice the lack of sun... :-(

The Regional train from Kienberg-Gaming nach Pöchlarn.

A really bad photograph of me next to the Erlauf in Scheibbs.

Yes. They have John Deere in Austria... surprise, surprise.

I just submitted my application to Eckerd Youth Alternatives.

Now I must wait, with my breath held, for a response.

I am so nervous that I won't get this job. Please everyone, cross your fingers for me if you can! :-)

ice, ice, baby

Hello all.

I have been having a ridiculous amount of internet troubles. I really do not know if I am going to regain internet access in my apartment, so my blog updates are going to be even less frequent than they were.

I had a good Christmas and New Year vacation, until the end when I came down with a really awful lung infection and was put on bedrest for a week by the Austrian doctors. I am doing MUCH better now, but still have a stupid cough, which will probably last for a while.

The latest photographs I have taken are of ice because I have never seen so much of it in my life. It is warmer today... finally. But it has been consistantly about 14° F for the last two weeks. BRRRRRR.

Wald

Today we worked in the forest with the Weber's new tractor!!!! It was -8° this morning. For those of you who are stuck in Farenheit, that is.... 17°F. I wore the following.
  • 1 pair long underwear bottoms
  • 1 pair pajama pants
  • 1 pair running pants
  • 1 pair heavy duty outdoor overalls
  • 1 tanktop
  • 1 long underwear top
  • 1 long sleeved shirt
  • 1 short sleeved shirt
  • 1 patagonia polar fleece
  • 1 down jacket
  • 2 pairs of gloves
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • 1 pair of hiking boots
  • 1 hat

I was roasty-toasty until I stopped moving. Lunch was Bratwurst, bread, and mustard cooked over a camp stove and served on sliced logs with mustard and mayonaise. It was... a dream come true... seriously. I felt like I belonged in an Austrian documentary movie! :) We were cutting down trees for the Weber's to use as fire-wood for the following two years. I had a lot of fun.

Pictures will follow when I feel like uploading them. :)

So, not only do the Germans have no lifeguards, but they also have no laws against Fireworks in public places... such as the U-Bahn.

Here are some photographs from my time in Munich, and "the death of santa claus".
